Literature Text

They call our home paradise,
Where we party forever, warm or cold.
We chitter and chatter like happy mice,
But only when we’re told.
They call our home utopia,
And this is the cost.

Our freedom lies behind the Wall,
Slick as ice, smooth as glass.
Don’t try to climb, you’ll only fall.
It’s our Forbidden Fruit that we constantly pass

We’re Adams and Eves,
In the Garden of Eden.
Except unlike them, we wish to leave.
Writing on the Wall, with a jet-black pen.
They say we are the luckiest ones alive,
But we pay a heavy cost,

Our freedom lies behind the Wall,
Slick as ice, smooth as glass.
Don’t try to climb, you’ll only fall.
It’s our Forbidden Fruit that we constantly pass

We are free from racial slurs,
Things that bring death and fear.
Drugs, thugs and other lowlife curs.
Peace and joy we hold near.
They claim we’ve been given the power of god’s,
And we’re sick of the cost.

It’s time to topple the Wall.
Kinda short.

Okay so I’m a big fan of the whole futuristic story idea where everyone becomes like mindless slaves to someone or thing. I don’t know why but it almost always makes a good story.
Anyway on that topic while I was writing this I started to read the “Uglies” trilogy by Scott Westerfeld (it’s that kind of story) and I got a lot of inspiration from them. The poem isn’t based on the books but I used a lot of references from them. They are very good books and you should all go read them...NOW!! (yes squeaker, that includes you)

“Writing on the Wall” is a Pink Floyd reference. Listen to their music it’s so weird but awesome. ^.^b

Enjoy! And read the books. ^.^b
